Interested In Being A Volunteer, Committee Member or Intern?

Our volunteers make all the difference! We depend on volunteers and interns to provide comprehensive services that shape our organization.

We need volunteers and student-interns throughout the year for a variety of different tasks.  Our volunteers are eligible for significant discounts to IVAT Summits and Trainings.  We always need assistance with preparing for Summits as well as on-site Summit volunteers for both our Hawai`i and San Diego Summits. Additional internships and professional development opportunities are also available under Clinical and Forensic Services.

Internships

IVAT’s mission is to collaborate across disciplines to effectively address the implications of interpersonal violence across the lifespan through direct services, advocacy, research, and policy.  We welcome students to intern at our offices to gain experience in nonprofits and receive direct mentorship.  IVAT provides opportunities to intern quarterly and throughout the year. Subscribe to our mailing list to receive notifications on upcoming opportunities.

Please note: If you do not fit the above specifications, and are committed to IVAT’s mission statement and refining your skills and nonprofit experience, we still encourage you to apply for consideration. All applicants must provide their resume / curriculum vitae, copy of their unofficial transcript, and a minimum of two letters of recommendation.

IVAT is an equal opportunity employer with a commitment to diversity in the workplace.  Due to the large volume of applications, we are only able to contact those applicants who are selected for interviews.  Applicants must either be eligible to receive academic credit from their institutions.  Opportunities for compensation may be available, however applicants are encouraged to seek independent funding either through an accredited institution, or through fellowship grants or internship programs, and IVAT will gladly assist the student in working with the school or program to make arrangements and meet requirements.

Volunteering

IVAT is a comprehensive resource and training center providing opportunities to professionals and students to refine their skills and knowledge addressing violence, abuse and trauma.  Thank you for your interest in volunteering with IVAT.

There are multiple volunteer opportunities available at the IVAT office or Summits.  Volunteering at the IVAT office allows flexible hours and diverse opportunities to learn new skills and expand your resumé.

If you are interested in volunteering at our Summits, we are looking for volunteers who are comfortable in a fast-paced setting, willing to assist in a variety of training summit activities.  Tasks may include registering participants for the Summit or for continuing education credits, putting together registration packets, setting up and helping with the selling of books, monitoring sessions, and general administrative tasks. IVAT is looking for volunteers who can commit to a minimum of 5-hours of service.  Among the incentives to volunteer at the Summit, volunteers get to meet like-minded professionals, attend the Summit at a reduced registration fee, and have the option of being room monitors in presentation sessions.
