Get Help: Children

Stop the Silence

If you are, or have, or know a child who has been sexually abused, you are not meant to travel this journey alone.  You need to be able to talk to someone – someone who will listen and help you. The person can be any trusted adult. That person can be a parent, family member, guardian, teacher, counselor, coach, school resource officer, community member, the police, or anyone who you think can help. If that person doesn’t believe you or doesn’t know what to do, continue to seek out another adult for help.

Many areas offer local support groups for parents where you can connect with others who are going through similar circumstances.

If your child is or has been a victim of sexual abuse, it is imperative that you get help for yourself as well as for your child.

If you are a parent looking for a good resource to help you speak with your child about child sexual abuse, get a copy of the book, “My Body Belongs to Me,” by Jill Starishevsky (visit mybodybelongstome.com).
