New Webinar Series--Coping in the Time of COVID-19

IVAT has developed a three-part Webinar Series designed to help people understand, manage, and become stronger in the face of the cumulative stress, grief, and trauma caused by this world-altering pandemic.

While each Webinar exists as a stand-along training, together they offer a complete guide on how to overcome the new challenges we are facing, personally and as professionals, including practical techniques, tips, and tools needed for immediate interventions and managing the long-term impact of this pandemic.

Coping in the Time of COVID-19 Part I: Understanding grief, stress, and trauma:

This first part of our three-part series will focus on better understanding the complex reactions all of us are experiencing in these trying and uncertain times. We will explore individual reactions of stress, grief, and trauma during the pandemic, and how to better make sense of these interactions on our brain, body, and relationships. The presentation will cover how these interactions affect us from a neurobiological and physiological perspective, in addition to the psychological, emotional, and social impacts. We will discuss the many new barriers to adjusting to a new reality while remaining connected, productive, and healthy. We will also outline specific techniques that can be used to ground ourselves and regain control over our body’s normal reactions to these increasingly difficult times.

THURSDAY, MAY 21, 1:00-3:00 PM PST

Coping in the Time of COVID-19 Part II: Managing the impact of grief, stress and trauma

The second part of our three-part series will focus on practical skills and techniques for managing the cumulative stress and trauma that we, individually and collectively, are experiencing. We will explore ways in which we are being forced to adapt to a new sense of normal and how to learn adaptive management techniques in the face of ongoing uncertainty. We will provide specific intervention techniques from an evidence-based perspective on how to better manage the daily and cumulative stress, ongoing grief, fear, and trauma we may be experiencing. These techniques will help us learn to regain some sense of safety and control in order to improve health and well-being. We will also offer specific tools for how to maintain productivity, communicate effectively, and adjust to the many new changes to our professional and personal lives.

THURSDAY, MAY 28, 1:00-3:00 PM PST

Coping in the Time of COVID-19 PartIII: Strengthening resilience and preventing burnout

The last part of our three-part series will focus on developing and strengthening the endurance and resilience needed to continue managing the long-term impact of this pandemic on us individually and collectively. While the first two parts of the series primarily focused on understanding and managing reactions to the current stressors, the final part will delve deeper into the after-effects of the pandemic. We will explore different pieces of what to expect in the months ahead and how to plan for adjusting and adapting to a new sense of “normal.” We will discuss long-term tools and resilience-building strategies for how to maintain stamina and endurance to continue facing the challenges ahead.
